Our village has effective strategies for reducing personal safety risks, mitigating biological hazards, and ultimately creating a safer environment for both the residents and the caregivers.

Lifting of residents manually is not allowed in our village. Lifting is the leading cause for back and neck injuries. Manual handling hazards also include physical stress from lifting, moving, or handling patients or equipment, contributing to strains and sprains.

Poor lighting, clutter, unsecured rugs, uneven floor surfaces, or worn parts are the leading cause for trips, slips, and falls. Our facility has excellent lighting through out the 90 acre space. Also there are no steps anywhere.

Fires: Can be caused by faulty wiring, unattended cooking, smoking, and improper use of heating appliances. In our facility we have smoke alarms installed in every house and all the common facilities. Fire alarms are tested every fortnight.

Bedrails are often associated with falls. In our facility bedrails are only used when deemed as the best solution to prevent falls.

​

Water temperature is often associated with burns. In our facility water temperature is monitored and control in all bathrooms and kitchen areas.

​

Proper Hand Hygiene and Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Essential practices to prevent the spread of infections, encompassing gloves, masks, and gowns to protect against direct contact with infectious agents.

Safe Handling Practices and Waste Disposal: Critical for minimizing risk, especially in dealing with potentially contaminated materials or surfaces.

Sterilization Risks: While cleaning agents like ethylene oxide are vital for sterilization, they also pose risks such as respiratory tract infections and chemical burns, highlighting the need for careful handling and adequate ventilation.

Wet Surfaces: A common environmental hazard, wet surfaces can lead to slips and falls, which are among the most frequent accidents. Ensuring floors are dry and promptly addressing spills is crucial for prevention.

Sharp Objects and Falling Items: Being struck by or colliding with sharp objects or falling items can cause serious injuries. Regular checks and proper storage of such items can significantly reduce these risks.

Scams and Fraud: A Modern-Day Necessity - Callers or pop-up messages claiming your computer has a virus and demanding payment to fix it and Scammers posing as officials from the tax office or other government agencies, threatening legal action if personal information or payment is not provided. In our facility, residents will be educated on scams regularly through personal interactions.
