Measuring CX success with KPI

An important factor in choosing a senior care home is making sure high quality care is offered. Quality Measures provides information on things like sickness, falls, pressure injuries, restrictive practices, unplanned weight loss, and medication management. High quality care means that these issues may occur less often.

We report on the following quality indicators every month:

  • Sickness & Injuries: The incidence of any sickness or new injuries in numbers

  • Unplanned weight loss: The percentage of residents experiencing unexplained weight loss.

  • Falls and major injury: The number of falls resulting in major injury.

  • Medication management: Issues related to managing residents' medications.

  • Incontinence care: The quality of care for residents with incontinence.

  • Hospitalisation: The number of unplanned hospitalisations of residents.

  • Activities of daily living: The quality of support for residents' personal care.

  • Quality of life: An assessment of the overall well-being of residents.

  • Workforce: Data related to the staff providing care.

  • Consumer experience: Feedback from residents about their care.

  • Enrolled nursing: Measures related to the role and performance of enrolled nurses.

  • Allied health: Data regarding allied health services provided to residents.

  • Lifestyle officers: Indicators relating to the activities and engagement provided by lifestyle officers.

Beyond clinical indicators, the QI Program also includes consumer experience as a KPI, which measures how residents feel about the quality of care they receive. This is assessed through surveys asking about:

  • Treatment with respect by staff

  • Feelings of safety

  • Staff meeting healthcare needs

  • Follow-up on raised issues

  • Food standards and enjoyment of the food

  • Opportunities to talk with staff when feeling sad or worried

  • The place being well-run

  • Being encouraged to be as independent as possible

  • Education sessions on prevention of falling victims to scams
